Bio:
Miss Kayla Barnhart is new to Minneapolis Public Schools as the head cheerleading coach for Roosevelt High School!
After graduating from Edina High School, Kayla attended college at the University of Minnesota Twin-Cities. She recently graduated in May of 2024. She was a four year student athlete in the Gopher Cheerleading program. She graduated undergrad with a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology and a Minor in Physical Activity & Health Promotion.
Kayla has spent 10 years in the cheerleading world as both an athlete and a coach. She was first introduced to cheerleading by a friend asking if she wanted to attend tryouts. On a whim she decided to go and fell in love with the sport.
In her time as a college cheerleader, Kayla grew into a strong and dedicated athlete. One of her summer jobs included instructing cheerleading camps for highschools across the country. She spent hours in the gym, on the football field, basketball court, and giving back to the community.
Kayla is beyond grateful for the lifelong lessons cheerleading taught her in her time as an athlete. She is excited about the opportunity to share her knowledge as she coaches future generations of cheerleaders.
Go Teddies!
