MINNEAPOLIS, MN — The Minneapolis Roosevelt Teddies Girls Basketball team delivered a compelling performance on Tuesday night, securing a decisive victory over the Fridley Tigers. Showcasing balanced scoring and suffocating defense, the Teddies racked up 51 points to Fridley’s final tally of 41 moving their season forward with a statement win.
The Teddies' victory was a true team effort, but the night belonged to a few standout players who anchored the offense. Junior Lily Braziel led the charge with a game-high 11 points, converting five successful field goals and adding a free throw. Close behind was Corrina Sparks with a strong 9 points, thanks largely to her two successful shots from beyond the arc and three free throws, proving clutch in her shooting efficiency. Rounding out the top scorers, Mae Kirkwood contributed 8 points with four successful field goals.
The defensive and rebounding effort was spearheaded by Nya Carpenter, who was a force in the paint, pulling down a team-leading 6 rebounds. Carpenter also contributed significantly on the perimeter with 2 steals, adding 7 points to the scoreboard. Co-leader in steals, Lily Braziel, matched Carpenter’s defensive energy with 2 steals of her own, supplementing her high-scoring night.
Collectively, the Teddies demonstrated effective shooting, making 16 field goals and 3 three-pointers on the night. However, the team's ability to create turnovers (4 total steals) and dominate the boards (26 total rebounds) established the pace of the game.
